The Trolley's Coming

The Fourth Avenue district of Tucson still has a running trolley car system. I don't know where it goes, since I have only walked past it, but its quite picturesque.

According to a comment from hotdamy2k on the Flickr page for this:

Right now it runs from the University Main Gate, down University to 4th, and now through the rebuilt underpass into downtown. The tracks are supposed to go all the way to the Rio Nuevo development, but that's gotten to be a really sore point around here...Rio No Va, as they say.

The trolley on 4th has actually only been in operation for a bit over fourteen years. The original trolley system shut down in 1931 and went down Stone, not 4th.

Now Playing at the Rialto

A few weeks ago, I was in Tucson, Arizona for an Internal Open Text Sales Kickoff. After all was over, I walked around town with some colleagues. Cross the railroad tracks from Fourth Avenue, we hit this area.

It's a 5 image HDR, selectively processed in Topaz Adjust.

A Room's View

At our recent meetings in Tucson, Arizona, we stayed at the Westin La Paloma. This was probably an amazing hotel about 20 years ago, but it needs a huge renovation now. The owner knows it, but apparently is having trouble getting the loans he needs to get the job done. But the view from the back is absolutely stunning.

This is an panorama made from 6 separate 3 image HDRs. The colors are pretty close to real life, just a touch of tweaking. No use of Topaz tools as I didn't have the license yet, but I don't think this one needs it.
