Chromagenic is a site to display the photography of Technovangelist.
I hope you enjoy the site.

My name is Matt Williams and I have had a passion for photography ever since that first Sears K1000 I received as a Christmas present when I was 10 or 12. Today the equipment I use is a little higher end and my skills are better, but the passion is as strong as it ever was.

I live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I have a job that takes me around the world, and I got used to visiting new countries as a child on family vacations. So I love to travel. Many of the photos you will see on here are from my various work and personal trips. You can read more about my non-photography interests on my blog at technovangelist.com.

I work at Open Text as a Technical Trainer for the Fax & Document Distribution Group. You can read more about my work at faxlearning.wordpress.com.

My history with photography started a little before the K1000 I mentioned above. There was another camera before that. I cannot remember what it was, but it was simple, and I remember walking around our backyard with it taking weird shots. But things really began with that first SLR. I got to know the guys at my local camera shop, Bristol's Camera on Key Biscayne, FL.

From the K1000, I moved on to an Olympus OM2S. The S stood for spot metering and that is the feature I used most. I got heavily into Ansel Adam's Zone System. I actually got quite good at it.

Within a few years I turned an extra bedroom into a darkroom. I spent way too long in that room, watching images appear on my old Omega enlarger. I spent all the money I had on chemicals from Bristol's Camera, and when I finally turned 16 I was able to get a job there (so that I could spend even more money on chemicals).

I used my job to switch over to the Nikon system. Starting off with the N80 and then later on the N8008, I started acquiring lenses. Some of those lenses from my earliest days with Nikon are still with me every day, like the 24/2.8.

Over the years I worked with many other cameras and camera systems. I did quite a lot on an old Rollei medium format camera that I was given. I loved going on hikes around Seattle with a rented 4x5 camera. I even borrowed some Leica equipment to see if I liked that route. but I always return to my trusty Nikon. That said, for pocket point & shoots, I love my little Canons that have been with me for years.

Today, photography is still my main hobby. I am a Nikon man and you can read about the equipment I currently use on xxxx page. I carry at least some of that equipment with every single day, I am never without a camera.

I hope you enjoy some of the photos on this site.
